This game is a lot closer than the odds suggest in my opinion. Looks like the bookmakers have overreacted to the sensational win that West Coast produced against the Bulldogs last week. You can get $3.05 for the Roos’ on Sportsbet, a team that also had a convincing win last week.

There’s not a lot of doubt about who’ll win this one. A top 4 team playing a bottom 4 team who hasn’t won interstate in over 2 seasons. The good thing about this game is that the Eagles have been given a massive line and after seeing the Dockers make the line with ease against the Bulldogs last week it appears to be a good bet once again.

Usually the Derby between these two clubs is the highlight of the round. But with both teams sitting in the bottom four and have their superstars no the sidelines its hard to get pumped for this match. I’m fed up with having the tanking talk, the worst thing about it is that you are led to believe that teams are tanking. Fremantle could be without Paul Haselby due to ‘general soreness’ it might be legit but its a common coincidence that gun players miss games that they are a chance to actually win.

On Sunday afternoon its an undefeated 1st vs a struggling 12th on the AFL ladder. St Kilda have proved they are the real deal this season after conquering the Cats last week. You would think that they should beat West Coast with ease, however they’re going to have to make one of the longest trips in football to do it. After last weeks epic with Geelong they’re likely to have some battered and bruised bodies. Geelong were without Gary Ablett, Travis Varcoe, Matthew Scarlett, Darren Milburn, James Kelly and Cameron Ling who couldn’t get up for the game after their physical encounter with the Saints. One would think there would be some sore bodies in the St Kilda camp too.

When SportsAlive opened betting on AFL on Monday Brisbane were at $3.25 to win, Geelong $1.35. On Thursday the Cats odds dropped dramatically when Cameron Ling, Matthew Scarlett, James Kelly & Darren Milburn were all out of the side that last week lost to St Kilda. Not only that but Steve Johnson also failed to recover after being a late withdrawal in last weeks game.

My best betting advice for this game would be to not bet at all. Two teams that you just cant rely on. Things aren’t good down at Melbourne FC at the moment with the news of club president Jim Stynes stepping down to due health problems along with the ongoing criticism of last years number 1 draft Pick Jack Watts. When it comes to Watts this week Melbourne cant win, they’re being pressured in to dropping him and at the same time we all want to see the top two draft picks go head to head. The only thing you can be sure of is that the team that loses will instantly be accused of tanking.
