This game is a lot closer than the odds suggest in my opinion. Looks like the bookmakers have overreacted to the sensational win that West Coast produced against the Bulldogs last week. You can get $3.05 for the Roos’ on Sportsbet, a team that also had a convincing win last week.

Now that all the decent games are over and done with this weekend its time to move onto Sunday. Three relatively boring games and it doesn’t come more boring than this one. This game is so uninteresting they’ll struggle to get 20,000 people at Etihad Stadium. Melbourne have a chance to prove that they’re not tanking, but will they? While North Melbourne have a chance to register Darren Crockers first win as senior coach.

Adam Simpson will play his 306th and last game against the Blues on the big stage this Friday night. Can Carlton overcome their stage fright and crash the Kangaroos party? North Melbourne have also won 8 of the past 9 games against the Blues but despite all this Carlton are still short priced favourites, $1.31 on Sportingbet. Last week both teams got a touch up by their respective opponents however both will go in to this game relatively confident.

I’m not sure about the rivalry between these two clubs but after last weeks events it makes for an interesting game. North Melbourne are out of the hunt for a priority pick after drawing with Richmond last week. Brisbane on the other hand beat the Dockers unconvincingly. You wouldn’t think Brisbane could lose this match but stranger things have happened.

Hawthorn are going to need to forget the horror of last weeks match against the Western Bulldogs if they are to win here. If last weeks defeat didn’t already derail their season then this game is an absolutely must win to keep any chance of finals football alive for the Hawks. The addition of Cyril Rioli to the side is a significant one but don’t expect it to have to big an impact on the result. To be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a late withdrawal from this match, the forecast conditions at Aurora Stadium tomorrow aren’t ideal for a player coming back from a hamstring injury.

Darren Crocker coached North Melbourne for the first time against the Bulldogs last week. He faced of the of harder tasks in football at the moment and that was coaching against the Western Bulldogs. North Melbourne put up a brave fight matching it with the Bulldogs for three quarter and eventually dropping off in the last quarter. Boomer Harvey was a welcome addition to the injury ridden Kangaroos squad last week.
