On Saturday night the Dogs fly up to Brisbane to take on the Lions in what could be the match of the round. Last week The Dogs lost the un-losable against West Coast at Etihad, they were embarrased and if they’re not fired up for this game then they are completely gone come finals time. They’ve looked very shaky in recent weeks and have a dreadful run home – this is a must win for them.

Two weeks ago this game would have been incredibly hard to pick, Essendon were flying and looked likely to grab a spot in the finals however recent losses to Richmond and West coast have just about ruled that out. Another problem they’re facing is a growing injury list.Once again they will be without skipper Matthew Lloyd and joining him this week is Andrew Lovett (leg), Scott Lucas (knee) and Andrew Welsh (leg). With no Lucas or Lloyd in the forward line they may struggle.

Toughest game to pick this week. Not a lot of difference between these two sides. Both are playing for a top 4 spot which is sure to heat up the MCG on Saturday night. You can make a case for both teams. Collingwood have beaten the Lions once already this year, that was at the Gabba as well which is sure to boost the confidence levels of the side.

I’m not sure about the rivalry between these two clubs but after last weeks events it makes for an interesting game. North Melbourne are out of the hunt for a priority pick after drawing with Richmond last week. Brisbane on the other hand beat the Dockers unconvincingly. You wouldn’t think Brisbane could lose this match but stranger things have happened.
Ablett, Varcoe suspend betting

When SportsAlive opened betting on AFL on Monday Brisbane were at $3.25 to win, Geelong $1.35. On Thursday the Cats odds dropped dramatically when Cameron Ling, Matthew Scarlett, James Kelly & Darren Milburn were all out of the side that last week lost to St Kilda. Not only that but Steve Johnson also failed to recover after being a late withdrawal in last weeks game.
Highest placed interstate team

I was just browsing a few forums and came across this interesting thread. Basically the user (2121) explains why he thinks Port Adelaide are worth a punt at the $4 odds the TAB are currently offering for Port to finish higher than Adelaide. He puts a decent case forward too. I suggested to him to consider looking at Port to finish as the highest placed interstate side as the Lions are the only legit threat at this stage and at the moment they’re only one game ahead of Port Adelaide. Lets look at each teams run home.

This week it’s been all about Choco and whether he would remain as Coach of Port Adelaide or not. After a 9 hour board meeting the Port Adelaide board agreed to offer Williams a 2 year deal that he’s yet to accept. Things looked grim early in last weeks Port Adelaide vs Geelong game at Skilled Stadium when the Cats took a 40 point lead in to quarter time. Williams job looked as good as gone. Geelong failed to extend their lead over the next 3 quarters but still won by a convincing 36 points.
